The 2026 edition of Taste the Greats arrived in Pauillac arrived Saturday the 5th to a great surprise, the 40th running of the Bordeaux-Medoc Marathon. A race that averages 8,500 runners and although my running days are over, my eating, drinking and dancing are apparently still in good form. It was a bit warm, over 90 degrees for the runners but perfect weather for beer, duck and friets.
I’ve never had so much non-wine fun in my 63 visits here. During the race super fun food and wine tents lined the harbor, local music filled the air and at night a rocking live concert starting at 10:30 pm. This year the theme was the 1980’s so we were rocking to the Eagles, the Doobies and of course Micheal Jackson followed by a huge fireworks show the size that you might see at Oracle Park in San Francisco. We headed back to our home at the Hotel Des Vignes et des Anges at 12:30! Apparently this is quiet little Pauillac’s wildest and longest day and my son Alton and I had one of the best days of our lives!
I have not conducted a fall harvest time tour in many years for a couple of reasons but here we are and it is exciting!
As always, we have brisk schedule as you will see, so for now I will be posting our visits on Insta and Facebook and will cover the visits in detail after my return home.
